India Chiles
Softball Hitting Instructor
India Chiles attended Ballard High School in Louisville, Kentucky where she was a standout softball player. A 2007 graduate of the University of Tennessee, India played UT softball from 2003-2007 where she was a three year starter in the outfield.
Though India was a straight away hitter in high school, she perfected her left-handed slap hitting in college. In her senior year with the Volunteers she led the SEC in hitting (.544) and on-base percentage (.565). Her most recent honors for the 2007-2008 season include SEC Player of The Year, 1st Team All-American, 1st Team Academic All-American, 1st Team All-SEC and World Series All-Tournament Team.
Chiles managed to set UT records in a duo of offensive categories while ranking 4th nationally in batting average (.459) and 6th nationally in stolen bases in the 2007-2008 campaign. Chiles was drafted by the Akron Racers professional softball team and will play in summer of 2009. She was also invited to tryout for the Pan-American USA National Team, but unfortunately suffered a torn ACL prior to that event.
India graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BA in psychology and is currently completing her BS in Nursing.
